Comparing fruit prices and quantities in Birtamode

A fruit price only means something next to its quantity. Here's how to compare like for like.

Check the pack, not just the rupees

When comparing fruit prices, check the selling quantity as well as the number of rupees. A price for 500 g and a price for 1 kg describe different amounts.

For an exact 500 g pack, doubling its price gives a useful per-kg comparison. The price you pay still depends on the pack and the number of packs you choose. On FreshBTM, exact-weight packs also show this per-kg figure in brackets.

Fruit sold by the dozen or by the piece

For fruit sold by the dozen or by the piece, compare like-for-like quantities. A dozen is 12 fruits; a half dozen is 6. An approximate whole-fruit weight doesn't give an exact per-kg price, so look for the stated unit rather than assuming every fruit is sold by the kilogram.

Examples in our catalog: Fuji Apple is sold by weight, Nepali Banana by the dozen or half dozen, and pineapple per piece.

Before you add to your basket

On FreshBTM, look at the available packs before adding to your basket. Where a price isn't confirmed, the page says so, and a basket total that includes an unconfirmed price isn't a payable quote.

Our current prices are provisional: they're based on Kalimati Market's published average wholesale prices, not verified local prices.
